Exchange connections and Bot mode

An exchange connection and an execution mode answer different questions. A connection identifies an exchange account for eligible workflows. The mode determines whether the Bot records simulated activity or can send real orders.

simulated mode uses simulated activity. LIVE mode can place real orders. Never enable withdrawals on an exchange API key, and never share API credentials.

01

What an exchange connection does

Connections are account credentials used by eligible exchange-connected workflows.

  1. Open Bot Connections from the member Automate navigation.
  2. Read the supported exchange and connection status shown in your account.
  3. Add or test a connection only through the secure controls in Edge Theory. Follow the current exchange instructions shown on that page.
  4. Use an API key with the minimum permissions required by the workflow. Withdrawals should remain disabled.

02

What the execution mode does

Mode controls whether activity is simulated or exchange connected.

  1. simulated mode records simulated balances, orders and positions. It does not send orders to an exchange account.
  2. LIVE mode can submit real exchange orders when the Bot, membership, connection and server-side checks allow it.
  3. A saved exchange connection does not by itself start LIVE trading or change a Bot from simulated to LIVE.

Check mode before activation

Confirm the mode at configuration and review time, then use the matching records to monitor the Bot.

  1. Open Bot Builder and select the system you want to configure.
  2. Check the selected mode and account in the configuration fields.
  3. On Review & activate, check the mode again before starting the Bot.
  4. After activation, review Activity and Health. For a simulated bot, review the simulated Account for simulated records.
